Iraqi Kurdistan Records 119 New Coronavirus Cases, 9 Deaths: Health Ministry
Kurdistan Regional Government KRG’s Health Ministry announced in a statement on Tuesday that 119 new cases of coronavirus were recorded across the Iraqi Kurdistan region in the past 24 hours.
According to the ministry 43 new cases in Duhok governorate, 39 in Sulaimani, 36 in Erbil, and 1 in Germiyan administration have tested positive for coronavirus.
The statement also said that 9 patients with coronavirus infection died in Iraqi Kurdistan, 5 in Erbil, 3 in Duhok, and 1 in Germiyan.
Iraqi Kurdistan recorded its highest single-day total with 3,559 infections on July 26, 2021. Also the Kurdish region recorded its highest single-day coronavirus death toll, with 33 fatalities on September 26, 2020 and on August 21, 2021.
So far, and according to the KRG ministry of health, there have been 379,774 coronaviruses in Iraqi Kurdistan. A total of 370,159 patients have recovered, and 7,069 people have died.
In March 2020 the World Health Organization WHO has declared the spread of coronavirus, formally known COVID-19, to be a pandemic. The statistics on December 20, 2021, showed that there are over 273,900,334 coronavirus cases globally, including more than 5,351,812 confirmed deaths, and as of December 20, 2021, a total of 8,387,658,165 vaccine doses have been administered worldwide, according to WHO.
